Dax
Ons kry mieliemeel by so ‘n plek en dis heel goed. Dax

Johnny

Dis nou hier in Adelaide rond. Lekker!Groete, Kannidood.
SASydneysider
Springbok Foods seem to be the main importers and also have shops in Aus. I know of a shop (butcher) in Lane Cover near Sydney and then there is also a shop called African Delights in Dural in north western Sydney. Here is the web address for Springbok Foods. Note on the web site the names of the Springbok food outlets that supply some of the SAfrican goodies. I assume these shops are in the Queensland area as I don't recognise certain names.I have also found a product called polenta which the Italians eat. The product is made by Lowans and is available in Woolworths and Coles. This is mealiemeel made out of yellow mealies, but taste exactly the same as white mealie meel. If there are other people who know of other makes of polenta, please let me know.SAS
Guest Mauritz
As ek groot aanvraag kry - sal ek weer maak. Sam
SAS, there is a organic store in Sydney that sells a tasty organic polenta. Talk to the manager and try to buy as fresh as possible and store in the freezer. I am surprised that people have not discovered polenta yet. Not everyone may be interested but the reason I am not fond of braaipap is because they extract the bran and the nutritious center and mill only the starchy bit and call that pap. No wonder the black people who used to eat pap traditionally as a staple without problem are now struggling with malnourishment. Imported produce also spend months at sea and storage. Mieliemeel/polenta goes rancid quickly so it is best to find a local, freshly grind supply, if possible...
Dax
Here are the particulars about a mealie meal miller/vendor I spoke about a while ago.The mealie meal is processed and packed by:Four Leaf Milling Pty LtdLot 120 main roadPO Box 83Tarlee SA 5411Tel (61) (8) 8528 5330 E mail: admin@fourleafmilling.com.au Website: www.fourleafmilling.com.auThe flour is milled from white mealies to a rather coarse texture and it makes excellent Putu Pap!Here in Adelaide there is an organic food shop in Aldgate near the corner of Druid ave and Mt barker Road that sells the eproduct here in Adelaide. The eproduct name is Four Leaf White Mealie Meal.CheersDax

MannyT
Hi JJWhat can I say!Coming to Oz will be a great opportunity for you to try new foods and dishes.Be adventurous and have fun, experiencing/trying new things in your new world/environment.I note that someone was asking in one of the posts if you could get Red Heart(ugh....) rum in OZ, I would suggest that he try Bundaberg rum or Bacardi.Sorry but I just think that there are so many more important issues to consider when emigrating. When in Oz try Oz made products!EnjoyManny
