I agree with you.I really trust that you also will be on the new system and get your invitation letter  with the HAP number and AOS letter, soon.

Probably be OK to do your Police Clearance mid Feb this year.

If you have not done your Form80 yet,I would suggest that you also get that done now while you are still reaxed:)

@DGT  Thank you - that would of course be great

I did my Form 80 on initial application.  If memory serves me, Ashmount used the same migrating agents I am using, and needed to re-submit Form 80 (I believe the reason is for them to have your latest personal details, in case these have changed since first applying).

Thus far I've kept the DIBP updated on change of address and passport details, so in my case it's a mere copy and paste on their latest Form 80 version.

I guess, when I do finally receive that elusive invitation letter, the first month will be somewhat hectic, what with all the excitement and anticipation, only to die down again whilst waiting for AOS letter of approval/acknowledgement.

Will keep my fingers crossed that you'll have your visa granted soon :)

Hello all roomies,

Just a quickie:

I battle logging onto the SAAustralia.org website from my iPhone - keeps hanging up and coming back with the message "this webpage is reloading due to a problem being experienced" (or along those lines) :(   The email notifications I receive connect me to the posts quickly but I just cannot log in !?

Though it works well on my laptop despite warning me the website is unsecured.

And it's the only website that hangs up on me when using my mobile.

Just wondering if anyone else with an iPhone is experiencing the same problem?

I have had the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy. Can not sign in, I always have to use my laptop to sign in. I will ask my son to see whether he can find out what the problem is when he is not so busy.

I am enjoying being in Brisbane although we have been extremely busy doing all the chores of someone who now has the luxury of having his parents at his disposal.  It is a good thing, we have not had a free minute to worry about visas or anything else. On the way over here during our flight, I kept thinking : "what on earth have we done now???" Now that we are here, it feels right although I am very sad still about all the family and friends we had to leave behind.

One day at a time , that should do it.

I have  similar problems and I put it down to my ignorance:^_^

I can no longer click on the newest  email to log in.I have to go to an email from say, 14 days back, click on "Go to this post" and  then it logs in by itself.

I can not log in from my Ipad or my IPhone at all.

I am not complaining.Just giving you feedback.

@Elna57 @DGT   relieved to hear I'm not alone in this problem and that I have some company :).   This is presumably because it's an unsecured website and smartphones/iPads etc. now "block" these to prevent any kind of fraud/hacking?   The iPhone uses Safari.   My laptop (Dell) uses Firefox, and although it warns against the unsecured website, it will still allow log in.  Internet explorer on the other hand doesn't appear to have an issue with it.  Just guessing around - not an expert on this at all.

Maybe the website developers could investigate and rectify this?  If not, I'll just carry on as is :ilikeit:

I've also been unable to load the saaustralia.org website on various browsers for some time now. Even while I type it is very slow and reloads frequently.

@Elna57 ,  Welcome to Australia! We're about an hour South of you. Enjoy the hot weather and have a good Australian Day tomorrow!

Hi All

Does anybody know the advantages and disadvantages of immigrating to OZ using the Financial Immigration route.

What is the difference between this route and just living in OZ on your PR - that is, have your finances still in SA and transfer all income including pension as and when one require funds.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hi All

Another question - if both the parents and their adult child apply via the parents contributory stream will the  Centerlink allow the sponsor in OZ to pay AOS for all 3 of them or is the sponsor only 2 persons?   If not what happens to the 3rd person?

@JTN

There are many issues that need to be clarified. It all depends on ones personal circumstances.

E.g.

1)There is no estate duty in OZ. While you are a SA Tax resident you will be liable for Estate duty in SA.Presently 20% above a certain Asset Value.

It is a very complicated issue of whether you are or are not (still) a SA Tax resident. It relates to many things e.g. Your domicillium.  This alone is complicated.... Then the days since you left SA without returning to SA etc etc.

2) There is no Gift Tax in OS.This could be important to some people who may wish to distribute there assets to e.g. their children. This attracts 20% donations tax in SA.

Then there is also the risk that over SARS changes the regulations while you are still dependent on your funds which are still in SA.

Or that over time the Rand goes the wrong(again)  way for you.

It is important to get advice from a qualified tax consultant that has SPECIFIC knowledge and experience regarding this issue.

Generally (not always) there is nothing that you have to do to no longer be liable for tax in SA. It is not an application. It is simply a matter of fact of when you are no longer required to submit  tax returns in SA.Get advice from a specialist.

Obviously, your pension issue will  to be dealt with in a specific way. My advice is "Ask a specialist"

Hi @Dirkz and Roomies. Thank you for your kind words and wishes.

Yes, it has been very warm the last week since we arrived here, but we love it. .

@Dirkz Thank you and I hope you had a lovely Australia Day as well.  I will contact you soon for a meet up. We have a lot to do  still, but not much we can do without our PR  visas. We are waiting patiently  but enjoying our holiday tremendously.

How will Dept of  Home affairs Aus know that we are in Aus at the moment? Do we need to inform them that we are on holiday here?

@DGT Good advice to  @JTN  there. The uncertainty about the political and economical situation back home makes every decision so much harder and more complicated. It is kind of risky either way but in the end it is your decision to make and only time will tell whether it was worth it or not.

@TinaH that is great news but if all that happens , is the date change and no visas get granted .................. better not to say any more.

@JTN I recall @Orphan  addressing the issue of financial emigration on his original thread. Perhaps visit his thread again?

Have a great weekend folks!

@Elza @Elna57 any news on AOS guys?

Have you received any letter from PVC requesting additional documents prior to the AOS application? I noticed your application date was in Feb 2015 and now the processing time is 31 March 2015???

I dont really know how it works.

@Elna57

Sorry I've been off the forum, blocked by Cloudfront??  Seems to be working well again now. I've written a long reply but due to the problem with the site I couldn't submit the reply.

It is up to you to notify your Case Officer that you are onshore when he/she requests the 2nd VAC payment. Just tell him/her not to grant the visa until you have flown offshore. They are very understanding and you can arrange the dates with them when you will be offshore.

They normally grant your PR visa within 2 days after receiving that last payment.

You need to clear the country with your visitors visa to close it and then enter with your Permanent Resident visa to activate your PR status. What a feeling when the customs guy looks at his computer and says welcome to Australia!

PS. If working through an agent, I couldn't tell you how that last communication with PVC would take place, but I presume you should be in direct contact with your agent to not delay the communication between PVC and you.

Thank you @DGT - you right a tax consultant / adviser is the person to check with - much appreciated.

@Elna - thank you - will check it out Orpan's post.

@ JIG - we had a problem with the birth certificate and after many, many phone calls to Home Affairs in Pretoria we got it - way back in 2015.

If they do not have any records then you may have to register your marriage again and get the document you need - crazy but if they cannot give it you then you have no other option - not sure who else can help.

I hope all in the AOS queue get their letter soon - best wishes

I dont really know how it works.

@TinaH I received the  request on the 10th November for the documents, Police Clearance, Medical, and AoS. A day or two after submitting all necessary documents to the necessary individuals my son got an sms asking him to submit the AoS documents. He went to centre link, they checked and all the needed documents were in. After waiting for 8 weeks my son called on them again and it was noticed that our documents had been uploaded differently then usual, although difference we were told that this shouldn't make a difference. However, they reloaded the documents to the correct place, just in case although it shouldn't have been a problem or create a  delay. Today we are sitting at 11 weeks since we submitted our docs and have not received a call or asked to pay not a letter  since receiving the PVC letter on 10 November 2017.

@Elna57 has received the phone call as I understand........

@Elza

Hey buddy. Great to hear from you although under the current circumstances I guess the both of us would have rather preferred to congratulate one another on getting our visas approved.

Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait patiently and go with the flow. :(

We have also not had any communication with centrelink after the bond payment and the proof of payment handed in at Centrelink.

I am in two minds as to whether I should go into the offices and do some enquiries, since my son has alteady been twice since payment of bond.

I will be sorting that in my mind today.  (we were told that there is a 10 week waiting period from initial application until processing will commence. It is very confusing but I guess we will find out more in due course.

In the meanwhile, we shall all keep encouraging each other and hope for the best.

Good luck to all of us in the waiting room.

Keep the faith buds!!

@TinaH

As far as I could establish, my son handed in the application for AOS  at Centrelink offices on 23 Nov 2015, then received the interview phone call on 5th January to pay the bond at Commonwealth bank and to take the proof of payment back to Dept of Human Services (Centrelink). We have not heard a word since.

Does this answer your question?

I totally agree that is extremely confusing, especially with all the public holidays during Dec and Jan, it is so hard to establish or even risk taking a go at guessing any timeframe.

Good to see you are back mate.

Yes, we have all been struggling a bit signing in etc, but the issue seems to have been resolved and we can carry on nagging and contemplating and complaining.

I am so happy to hear that you are enjoying life in Australia and that are happy here.

Thank you for keeping in touch and your support here.

Meet up soon, I hope.
