Norm
Hi everyone...Quick question - I have applied for a Skilled Immigration PR visa (still waiting for appointment of Case Officer, which should be any day soon) but want to go over for a couple of weeks this December to visit family... Do I just apply for a normal visitor's visa and / or do I have to notify anyone that I have another "visa" being processed?Norm
Guest Larry
I was in the same position about 12 years ago. - It is very important that you inform the Australians that you have applied for permanent residence and that your application is being processed. Not doing so could prejudice your PR application.
Norm
Shew... Glad I asked the question. Thanks Larry. Who do you think I should inform....? DIMIA or VFS (the guys who now process visas on this side for the high commission)? Also glad to have this web where we can ask these questions... Thanks guys. Guest Larry
When I applied, there was a place on the visa application form that asked "Do you have an application for another visa currently being processed?" - Or something like that. I answered "Yes"! They gave me a single entry visa valid for exactly one month. When I got back, a letter telling me that I had been granted permanent residence was waiting for me! Your best bet is to phone the Australian High Commission and ask for advice.

Bob
Norm,I'd have thought with such a liking for Australia's "Tim Tams", you'd be looking at honorary Australian citizenship by now
